Container tiny homes, built in Hawke's Bay
A complete small home built from shipping-grade steel: bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living space, insulated and lined to feel like any modern interior. We build ours from 40ft high cube containers at the Napier yard and deliver finished — to lifestyle blocks, coastal sections and backyards across New Zealand.
Why a container beats a trailer tiny home
Container homes don't rot, don't flex, and don't blow around — the structure is a certified 3.8-tonne steel frame designed to be stacked nine-high on ships. That means real security when it's left empty, a 25+ year structural life, and craneability: it can be lifted over a house into a back section, or onto a truck when you move.
What a typical build includes
Full insulation and lining, a bathroom with shower, toilet and vanity, kitchenette with plumbing, ranch slider and windows for light, certified electrical with switchboard, hot water, and exterior paint in your colours. Options run to decks, awnings, gas or electric hot water, and off-grid solar-ready wiring.
One home or a whole unit — talk to us early
The best builds start with a conversation about the site: sun, access, services, and what consent path applies to a dwelling in your district (tiny homes used as dwellings usually do need consent, unlike simple sleepouts). We've done this across Hawke's Bay — from Mahia beach sections to Hastings backyards — and will walk you through the honest costs before you commit.

Tiny homes — common questions
How much does a container home cost in NZ? +
A complete single-container tiny home from us typically starts in the $50,000s ex GST and rises with spec — bathroom fit-out, joinery quality and off-grid extras being the big movers. That's designed, built and certified, not a kitset.
Do container homes need building consent in NZ? +
If it's lived in as a dwelling — yes, in almost all cases, regardless of size. The consent process for container homes is well-trodden now, and we can supply the structural and electrical documentation your designer needs.
How long does a container tiny home last? +
The steel shell is built for 25+ years of ocean freight abuse; kept painted and off wet ground, 40–50 years is realistic. The interior fit-out ages like any house interior.
Can you deliver a tiny home outside Hawke's Bay? +
Yes — the beauty of a container home is that it travels like freight. We've shipped builds around the North Island and can arrange transport nationwide.
Can I start with a sleepout and upgrade later? +
You can — some customers begin with an insulated, wired sleepout and add plumbing later. Tell us upfront and we'll rough-in for the future bathroom so the upgrade doesn't mean re-opening walls.
