Container plunge pools
One of our favourite builds and something almost nobody else in the region does: a shipping container turned into a lined plunge pool with timber coping and built-in steps. No excavation, no months of landscaping — it arrives on a Hiab and is swimmable that week.
How a container becomes a pool
We reinforce the shell, fit a welded and sealed liner system, build steps and seating into the structure, and finish the top edge with timber coping. Plumbing points for your filtration are pre-fitted. The steel structure means it can sit above ground, partially buried, or on a deck structure — wherever the section works best.
Why above-ground container pools make sense in Hawke's Bay
In-ground pools here regularly cost six figures once excavation, retaining and fencing are done. A container pool is a fraction of that, can be relocated if you move, and its above-ground walls count toward pool-fencing compliance in many layouts — reducing the fencing you need to add.

How much does a container pool cost in NZ? +
Our pool conversion fit-out starts around $18,900 on top of the container, so a complete 20ft plunge pool typically lands in the mid-$20,000s +GST before filtration — well under half the cost of an equivalent in-ground pool.
Do container pools need council consent and fencing? +
Pool-safety rules apply to any pool that can hold 400mm+ of water: it must be restricted from unsupervised child access. A container pool's high sides help meet this, but gates, ladders-up and any decking layout need to comply. We'll flag what your layout needs; your council confirms.
How long does a container pool last? +
The steel shell outlasts the liner — liners are replaceable wear items like any pool. Kept maintained, expect decades of service from the structure.
