20ft shipping containers for sale, Napier & Hawke's Bay
The 20ft container is the workhorse — the size most of our customers buy. Big enough to store a household's worth of gear or become a full site office, small enough to truck almost anywhere in Hawke's Bay. We keep new and used 20ft units on the ground at our Napier yard.
New ('one-trip') vs used 20ft containers
New builds have done a single freight voyage and arrive close to flawless — the right choice for conversions, offices and anything customer-facing. Used units carry dents and surface rust but are inspected wind and watertight, and save you real money for pure storage. We stock both and will tell you straight which suits your job.
Standard, high cube and side-opening options
Beyond the standard 20ft we can supply high cubes (an extra 30cm of head height — worth it for offices and sleepouts), insulated units for temperature-sensitive storage, and side-opening containers that give forklift access along the full wall. Availability changes weekly, so call for what's currently on the ground.
Buy it as-is, or have our engineer modify it first
A 20ft is the most common base for our conversions: man doors, roller doors, windows, insulation and poly lining, certified electrical, custom paint. Price the whole build yourself with our online configurator, then we confirm the number on the phone.
20ft shipping containers — common questions
How much is a 20ft container in Hawke's Bay? +
Average used watertight 20ft units start from $2,500+GST, B grade used from $3,750+GST, ex-lease new builds from $4,850+GST, and A grade new-build one-trip units from $5,400+GST. Transport is not included — delivery is quoted per address.
How much space is inside a 20ft container? +
About 33 cubic metres — roughly the contents of a three-bedroom house. Internal floor space is 5.9m × 2.35m, similar to a single garage.
Do you deliver 20ft containers to Hastings and Central Hawke's Bay? +
Yes. We deliver across the whole region — Napier, Hastings, Havelock North, Waipukurau, Waipawa, Wairoa — plus Gisborne and nationwide by arrangement. Delivery is by Hiab truck, so the container is lifted into position, not dragged.
Can I hire a 20ft instead of buying? +
Absolutely — 20ft units are our most-hired size for renovations, moves and seasonal storage. See our container hire page or call for current hire rates.
What's the difference between standard and high cube? +
A high cube is 2.89m tall externally versus 2.59m standard — about 30cm more headroom inside. If you're converting to an office, sleepout or anything you'll stand in all day, the high cube feels dramatically better.
